Solutions for Mercury Grand Marquis
Air Suspension Problems

If your Grand Marquis air suspension is down, then to keep it as a working air suspension system, it would be best to replace both air springs and the air compressor. Remember, if the compressor is bad, it was generally caused by leaking air springs. You should weigh out the costs of replacing the air suspension system and possibly later dealing with a failing electronics system and additional costs. If you have recently replaced the two air springs and then the compressor fails, then it makes good sense to replace the compressor and continue with the air suspension system.

However, if the car is down, and no prior repairs have been made, it is a good time to consider the coil spring conversion kit that is now available for the Grand Marquis. Cost-wise, it is the most effective way to eliminate future costly repairs as time works against the system. The Crown Victoria air suspension system can be replaced with the conversion coil springs in an hour's time by anyone who has the skill level to install brakes. The springs do not have to be compressed to install as jacking the rear end up compresses the springs. The conversion kit uses variable rate springs that make adjustments to added weight in the back seat or trunk so the car will remain level at all times.

The air suspension system "CHECK AIR RIDE" light and chimes can be turned off by following the simple instructions that come with the kit. The ride satisfaction has never been challenged and the kit comes with a life-time warranty.
