This list was prepared a while back when we were just working with Lincoln Continentals. If you
are having problems with your air ride system, check out this list before paying someone to check
the system for you. And, after you go through this list, if you still have not found the problem,
ask our Techman to help you.
Check to see if the air system is turned off in the trunk (sometimes stuff in the trunk hits the
switch and turns it off). Maybe the last one who turned it on didn't snap the toggle properly, snap
it to off firmly then snap it to on again. This may be your only problem.
Car goes up too high. Car goes up and down. If the air bags are not leaking, you can unplug the
"A" fuse on top of the fender well under the hood when the car is at the correct position. It
sometimes will hold, just won't level the car at different road situations.
When system is not level from corner to corner try deflating. Pull out the "A" fuse and pump up
with external air source at 120 psi. When correct position is reached then put in "A"
fuse. It may correct the situation.
If one air bag is leaking you can replace just that one air bag. Check our listings for a single
rebuilt bag that you can install yourself.
When same front corner goes down while driving, pull the plastic top strut cover under hood and,
with the engine running, wiggle the sensor wires in that area. Over time some of these wires can
break inside the insulation. If wiggling the wires corrects the car you know what the problem is.
Repair or replace wire.
If car goes down and pump doesn't come on check the "A" fuse; it may be blown. If it blows again,
the pump is bad. We can provide you with a remanufactured pump at a reasonable price.
If you hear hissing or air leaking, either your air bags are bad or worse, you have a leak in the
hoses or elsewhere in the air system. This is a good time to consider a conversion kit, front, rear,
or a complete set.
If the front continues to fail once you've tried the other remedies, consider front only conversion kit.
If the rear continues to fail once you've tried the other remedies, consider rear only conversion kit.
If you're totally frustrated and want to rid yourself of all the air suspension problems, then order
the full conversion kit and begin enjoying your Lincoln once again!
