Suspension Support Systems for the 1988 -1994 Lincoln Continental
The air compressor assembly consists of a compressor and a vent solenoid,
both are non-serviceable. The compressor assembly is mounted in the
engine compartment on the passenger fender side near the battery. The
air compressor is a single cylinder electric motor which supplies pressurized
air as needed. The air compressor is powered by a relay that is controlled
by the Lincoln air suspension control module.
The pressurized air from the air compressor passes through the dryer assembly
which contains a drying agent (silica gel). The moisture is removed
from the air dryer when vented air passes out of the system during vent operation.
When lifting the vehicle to perform service, position vehicle over hoist
and turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn air suspension switch,
located in the luggage compartment on the left side, to OFF position. Failure
to do so may result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs
which may result in shifting of the vehicle.
